Trying to get your kids off those mind draining video games? Let me tell you, I know your pain, as I have a few kids and know how tough that can be. Here's the tricky part though. You're gonna have to find something that can be just as exciting and adventurous as those pesky video games. Given up on ideas? Well, that is why I recommend skateboarding. Skateboarding is a way fun activity for a kid. And it is a wonderful way to get them outside in the sun and fresh air.

Skateboarding is a wonderful outdoor activity because not only will your kids get some fresh air, but they will improve their coordination and balance. I know what some of you might be thinking, that skateboarding is dangerous. Well, to some extent it is and that is why it is appealing to kids. But don't worry, there are many things that can be done to make sure your kids stay safe while learning how to skateboard. You can make skateboarding a fun and safe activity. Although that can be another challenge, getting your kids to wear the safety gear!

Not only will skateboarding get your kids outside, but it might get you outside too. You cold have a family day down at th
e skate park. I know in my city that there are a few skate parks, and I would be willing to bet that there is at least one near you. Skate parks are cool because they are usually pretty big and have lots of places and ramps for your kids to skateboard on. So whether your kid is still learning, or has gotten pretty good, they should have a blast skateboarking at a skate park. And you will too!

So if you're kid is new to skateboarding, it should go without saying that you'll want to start off nice and slow. Work with them on establishing their balance, as this is usually the hardest thing for beginners. Kind of like teaching your kid to ride a bike. Make sure that you have the right protective gear too when they are first starting off. This is by far more important when they are beginning. As they become better, they can probably go without all the gear. I would still highly recommend at least a helmet though. If your kids give you any grief about this, just show them some of those clips that you can find on YouTube with skateboarding wipe outs.

These are a few simple suggestions to get your kids out and exercizing. Skateboarding is not for everyone though. So if your kid is trully just not interested, find something else.
