With 13 wins in the 2009 season, the Columbus Crew was the #1 ranked club in the Eastern division of Major League Soccer. Their home field is the 22,555 seat Columbus Crew Stadium, the first-ever soccer-specific stadium, located on the Ohio Expo Center grounds. The team, labeled "The Hardest Working Team in America," is currently in their 14th season.

The Crew's rookie midfielder Duliver "Dilly" Duka was the eighth overall pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. Duka grew up playing for the Red Bull Academy, but per MLS rules, didn't play for them long enough to qualify him a spot with his hometown team. So the Crew snatched him up after he did a stint with the USA under-20 national team. "I'm looking forward to going to Columbus and playing there and starting my career," said Duka after being drafted. A former Rutgers star midfielder and All Big-East standout, Duka explored professional opportunities in Europe prior to being drafted by the Crew.

Guillermo Barros Schelotto, another crew midfielder, was named 2008's MLS MVP in his second year with the Crew. Schelotto went on to assist on all three goals, leading the Crew to claim the 2008 MLS Cup with a 3-1 win. Schelotto was signed by the Crew in April 2007, after playing 11 years for the Argentine Boca Juniors team. Going into this season, Schelotto has started in 19 of the 22 MLS games in which he participated and has 24 goals and 33 assists during his MLS career.

With 10 years of MLS experience, defender Frankie Hedjuk has 12 goals and 23 assists going into his seventh season with the Crew. He has appeared in 139 MLS games, starting in 133 of those, entering this season. Hedjuk is versatile, able to play either midfielder or defender, and is a five-time MLS All-Star.

On March 9, the Crew began their 2010 season by facing off against Toluca of Mexico in their first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal series. Toluca is the current full-season champion in Mexico, while the Crew had the best regular-season record in MLS the past two seasons. Toluca scored twice in the first half of the game. Steven Lenhart of the Crew then scored twice in the second half, both times from 13 yards on the right side of the box, to tie the game at 2-2. The two-game series will continue on March 17 at Toluca. The Crew faces a daunting challenge because MLS teams have lost 10 of 11 knockout series to Mexican clubs in the Champions League.

The Crew will host Toronto FC (Football Club) on March 27 at 4 PM Eastern Standard Time, their first home game of the season. The don't-miss games of this season include a May 29th home game against the Los Angeles Galaxy, June 26th hosting DC United, and an August 5th game when the Columbus Crew travels to Union Field to play the newly-formed Philadelphia Union. Get your tickets today for these and other games so you don't miss your favorite teams play. MLS Soccer has become hugely popular in recent years, so tickets are sure to sell out quickly.
